She contacted the clinic beforehand to ask if her two children could accompany her. Although she was told they could wait in the waiting room, this American woman chose to leave her two sons, aged 1 and 2, locked in her car, parked in the blazing sun , where the outside temperature was 38°C (100°F) .
Although the intervention lasted between 15 and 20 minutes, Maya Hernandez was absent for two hours, resulting in the death of her youngest son , Amillio. “When emergency services arrived, little Amillio had no pulse, his lips were blue, and his body temperature was over 42°C ,” reports Le Parisien . While this mother had assured the police that she had left the engine running with the air conditioning on , her vehicle automatically shuts off the engine after an hour of parking, leaving the baby with almost no chance of survival.
