Learning to live under the gaze of others
Growing up in the spotlight wasn’t always easy. As a child and then a teenager, Kevin had to deal with endless questions: “Do you play basketball?”, “How tall are you really?”, “Where do you get your clothes?” Rather than letting it get to him, he chose to approach his difference with humor. Little by little, his imposing stature became an integral part of his personality, almost a character trait he handled with a light touch.
Like many people whose physical appearance is unusual, Kevin developed a strong sense of self-deprecation, unwavering patience, and a self-confidence that has never left him. He says today that this experience taught him to transform the curiosity of others into warm exchanges.
A peaceful daily life and a fulfilling existence
Now 40 years old, Kevin leads a peaceful and balanced life. He shares his daily life with his partner, who is also remarkable for her height, and their dog, a faithful companion who completes this extraordinary household. Standing over two meters tall, he is one of those people whose presence never goes unnoticed, but who know how to turn surprise into a smile.
He readily admits that it took him time to accept always being noticed, sometimes even called out to. But this situation forged in him a rare social ease, almost a personal strength. What does he take away most from his journey? That the essential thing is to surround yourself with kind people, capable of seeing beyond appearances and appreciating what makes each person unique.
